Why choose Cornerstone? Simply, we focus on understanding horses-not just using them. Our goal is connection, confidence, and calm experiences that families can trust.

Our Background
Cornerstone Equine Services is owned and operated by Chauncey and Carisa Hooks. We have lived at this property for over 30 years. We got our first horses as a one year anniversary. We did everything wrong. Our journey into natural horsemanship began when we had a horse in training for Western Pleasure. When we saw some of the training techniques, we knew that there had to be a better way.
We currently own 20 horses. We enjoy seeing the transformation in horses and how much love they give to all the visitors at our farm.

Chauncey Hooks
Chauncey has worked mainly as a martial art instructor. However, in 2025 he felt that God was leading him in a different direction. He closed his martial arts business and began focusing on Cornerstone Equine Services.
In the past, he served as the equine director at a boy's ministry. He worked providing equine services at a treatment center for men with substance use challenges. He has provided horsemanship lessons off and on for the past 20 years. He is passionate about helping adults and kids gain confidence with horses.
He has studied Natural Horsemanship for over 20 years and has helped educate hundreds of horses. Chauncey has also been to the Colorado Parelli Center for their instructor course in 2010 and continues his learning of horse behaviors and horsemanship skills.
In addition to teaching horsemanship classes, he will be hosting different equine experiences at the farm. Individualized horse/riding lessons are also available.

Carisa Hooks MSW LCSW
Carisa spent most of her career as a special education teacher However after adopting a special needs son she began a journey to help him with his mental health. She ended up becoming certified with PATH as a therapeutic riding instructor and then going on to get her clinical social work degree. After a cancer diagnosis and a determination to live on purpose, she left her state job and began providing equine assisted psychotherapy. Her business is Cornerstone Therapeutic Horsemanship and is ran at the farm. She mainly works providing therapy, but you will see her around the farm.
